RANKCONN - Multiple Blade Cross Hatch Adhesive Tester RC-256
Brand : Rankconn Instruments
Model : RC-256
Product Descriptions
This instrument is widely used to evaluate the adhesion of various coatings. A high precise machined wheel presenting 6 or 11 cutting blades with various spacing is mounted in a handle. The test is carried out by performing 2 series of crossed cuts at right angle. The obtained lattices is either brushed or cleared with adhesion tape. According to the coatings thickness and the related spacing, the results can be classified with reference to a standard scale. It has long life tool with 6 cutting edges and comfortable wood handle.
When applied to multi-coat system, assessment of the resistance to separation of individual layers of the coating from each other may be made.
The Cross Hatch Cutters conform with the requirements of:
BS 3900 E6 BS/EN ISO 2409 ASTM D 3359 D 3302
Technical Specifications
Blade Specifications - Variety of Choices:
Multiple options to easily meet various needs
2 ± 0.01 mm (11 blades)
3 ± 0.01 mm (6 blades)

Procedure of Use:
- The test piece must be prepared according to the provisions of ISOR1514 and ISO2828.
- Place the test piece on a flat plate with sufficient hardness.
- Hold the handle of the grid cutter and make the multi-blade cutting knife perpendicular to the plane of the test piece.
- Cut with uniform pressure, steady non-vibrating technique and a cutting speed of 20-50mm/S.
- Rotate the test piece 90 degrees and repeat the above operation on the cut to form a grid pattern.
- Use a soft-bristled brush to brush the diagonal lines on both sides of the grid pattern gently 5 times backward and 5 times forward.
- The test should be completed at least at three different positions of the test piece. If the test results at the three positions are different, the experiment should be repeated at more than three positions and all the results should be recorded at the same time.
- If you need to change the multi-blade cutting knife, you can use a screwdriver to loosen the two screws on the knife body, replace the knife you need, place the blade edge against the side of the handle, and tighten the screws.
